Via Satellite: With the aim to transform the domestic In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) market in China, Gilat Satellite Networks has announced a strategic partnership with Air Esurfing, a fully owned subsidiary of Air Media Group. The companies intend to use China’s Ka-band High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) capacity for domestic IFC services over mainland China.

According to Euroconsult’s latest report, total revenues from passenger connectivity services are expected to grow from $700 million in 2015 to nearly $5.4 billion by 2025. With such huge profits hanging in the balance, competition will rise.

Significant Supply Expansion for EO Industry: Data Demand Driven by Defense and Emerging Markets

Earth Imaging Journal: Between 2005-2014, 179 Earth-observation (EO) satellites (> 50 kilograms) were launched by civil government and commercial entities from 36 countries. Supply is expected to go through significant expansion, resulting in the launch of 427 satellites from 2015-2024. This will translate to $38.8 billion in manufacturing revenue during this period.

Starting next year the report will use an updated Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) methodology which the CSA contributed to.
